INDIAN INSTITUTE OF AERONAUTICS

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF AERONAUTICS

That is European Aviation Safety Agency.

Aircraft maintenance License which is issued by member state of European Union.

Civil Aviation Industry worldwide is governed and regulated by the national aviation authority of the individual country. For example: In INDIA regulatory authority is DGCA ( Director General of Civil Aviation) In AMERICA it is FAA (Federal Aviation Administration ) and so on.

The European Union consists of 28 member nations who have associated themselves in common interest to create a single aviation authority instead of having individual national aviation authority of their own. This single aviation safety regulatory authority has been given a name EASA which issues part 66 license for Aircraft Maintenance and licensing of Engineers in the field of aircraft maintenance. An EASA License is considered as Hallmark amongst all other licenses issued by national aviation authorities of other countries .Thus giving EASA License holder a privilege and better perks as compared to others.

Our origination is approved by EASA under part 147 category which consists of approved foreign aircraft maintenance training organization. The approval has been given to the parent organization that is Takniki Vikas Sansthan and the trading name of institution is Indian Institute of Aeronautics based at New Delhi (INDIA). This same information can be checked and verified from official EASA website.

Brief description of course:

EASA part 66 license programme at the approved part 147 facilities is divided in 3 phases

1st phase is Basic Training

2nd phase is Actual maintenance license

3rd phase is Type Rating

Basic Training:

It consists of 2 years of 2400 hours of theory and practical training at the institution and partner Maintenance & Repair Organization. Theoretical and practical elements of basic training are covered and conveyed by well experienced and qualified staff having combined work experience of more than 200 years. For the detailed knowledge and skill development IIA partnered with Air India Engineering and Indamer Aviation where the student can enhance the required level of competence to become a successful Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. In the basic training candidates are expected to clear all 13 module examination which are required for getting EASA-AML.

Second part of this course is Actual Maintenance Experience. Our organization is committed towards providing each and every candidate 2 years of Actual Maintenance Experience in the Airline operator, MRO (Maintenance Repair & Overhaul) organization

This opportunity is not even facilitated by the giant operators and training organizations like Lufthansa in Germany , British Airways in UK or KLM in Holland. Candidates enrolled with us can undergo basic training as well as Actual Maintenance experience in one go under single window system. Our current partner organizations are located in GERMANY , UAE and INDIA .We are looking forward to accommodate other regional operators in south east Asia & Australia to give our candidates a wide option to choose place of their interest and suitability . In the Actual Maintenance experience candidate have to work in safe & quality control environment involving checks and repairs on an Aircraft part and system. The details of work undertaken are termed as tasks which are filled in the logbook and duly signed by the certified staff of maintenance training organization . After completion of 2 years of basic training and 2 years of Actual Maintenance Experience the documents that is certificate of recognition of passed module examination and logbook containing of lists of tasks done in 2 years of Actual Maintenance Training is sent to any member state of European Union which upon verification and crosscheck of the documents issues the aspiring candidate a blank EASA part 66 License which means the person is now able to work on an aircraft but has the limitation of working as certifying Staff of a particular Aircraft. To get endorsements for a particular aircraft candidate has to undergo Type Rating course which is conducted by the manufacturer or approved training organization for that particular Aircraft.

This Type Rating depends on operator or maintenance organization requirement. Usually operators send or sponsor the candidate for this course but herewith IIA we are giving option of covering Airbus 320 family aircrafts and Boeing 737 Type Rating course at your own expense. This facility is not included in the training cost as it is optional. An advantage of undergoing Type Rated training in absence of sponsors gives a candidate a leading edge to secure his future prospects in becoming a certifying staff and enhance his/her employability skills.
