center at TOU is to provide research leadership to our students and faculty by building and providing sufficient support to enhance research

to assists all students and alumni in the development of career education, career identification and search, and pursuit of employment

opportunities commensurate with formal academic pursuits. TOU maintains partnerships with leading businesses and organizations to

provide students with a highly regarded professional education. Programs at TOU are designed in partnership with employers in the fields

of law, business, finance and health. Practice Based Learning model adopted by TOU allows students to gain real world business experience

and provides an opportunity to master the components gained through classroom studies and transfer it into practice. In partnership

with our member institutions, we’re able to send and receive students and academics to and from our partner universities around the world

to be connected to high-quality, academic programs. At TOU we use our teaching and research activities to participate in international

networks, in order to strengthen our role as a creative hub in the international knowledge and innovation web.

Thanks to our wide international institutional collaboration with preferred partners both regionally and beyond, we are able both to attract

foreign students, researchers and professors and to offer our own students and scholars a foreign experience. In addition, students can

choose to join one of the Student Clubs or events organized by the university or come up with their own idea on a new one and deliver it

to the students self-governance for consideration. There are various Student’s Clubs at TOU offering anything from sports to literature and

a numerous ongoing events and activities to make this journey the most remarkable period of the students' life. Our distinctive experience

History :

Tbilisi Open University was founded in 2002 under a name of Georgian Tax Academy by a leading scientists and experts in the field. In

2012 due to market dynamics, new management strategy and vision, university acquired its present name Tbilisi Open University. This

transformation has been predated by a number of circumstances such as growing popularity of our quality education, high employment

rate of our graduates and increased demand for new programs on the market.

Just under 20 years of its existence TOU proved to be the fastest growing institution on the market while transforming from a small size

teaching establishment with just 2 faculties into the full spectrum University with 4 schools and a numerous degree programs. Today TOU

is a vibrant intellectual community known for its cutting-edge research and the expansive scope of expertise, consisting of nearly 400 faculty

members and visiting professors and strong cohorts of graduate and undergraduate students employed in public and private sector.

Recent years have seen major changes in structure and development of the university. By establishing solid partnerships with number of

international universities and adopting the best of their practice, TOU transformed into the most innovative and vibrant university in the

region. Establishment of new departments and research centers such as: TOU Scientific Research Center, Center of Law and Economics,

in line with hosting numerous international conferences and public events have attracted many high profile scientists, writers, journalists

and politicians to TOU.

TOU campus has continued to develop over the years with establishing a presence at the University street, in the central part of the city.

The new 15.000 sq meter academic building designed by leading architects and equipped with state of the art facilities, opened its doors

to students and faculty in 2017. TOU continues to move forward as one of the leading universities in the country, building upon its distinctive

history, unique values and commitment to the local and global community.

As a registered student of the Tbilisi Open University, students have the right to expect that a period of study with an exchange

partner is of equivalent level, standard and quality as they could expect if taking that period of study here. A number of safeguards

are necessary to ensure the overall quality of the student experience abroad as well as the level and amount of credit.

A student exchange program offers students the opportunity of spending their second or third year at another University allowing

them to broaden their horizons and experience a different academic environment.

Library :

Library at TOU provides all necessary support and guidance to its users according to their needs and requirements. It equips

students and faculty with learning and research materials and when necessary, provides consultations on `search methodology.

TOU Library is equipped with more than 15.000 copies of books and resources that are available both electronically and

as a hard copy. These cover all fields taught at the university including: business and economy, law, medicine, social sciences

and humanities etc.

During the orientation week the library provides trainings to its staff and students on library resources, search terms and methods,

library rules and regulations. Alumni are welcome to use the TOU Library’s printed collections - on a reference basis or to

borrow - free of charge. There are also internet-connected PCs allocated to alumni, providing access to certain online journals

(remote journal access for alumni is unavailable under current licencing agreements).
